Broken...

The glass lamp slips from my hand, hits the floor, and shatters into a million pieces.

I slip down beside it.

Tears.

It was one of my favorites, a beautiful, delicately painted, family heirloom. I was just moving it to the kitchen to clear the room for us to paint.

Still stunned, I look up and can see the table where the lamp used to sit and the remaining decorations that still stood.

Just plain, glass, Replaceable things. But this lamp?

I treasured it.

Instantly what comes to mind is a phrase Yahweh uses over and over to describe us...

His treasured possessions.

“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, His treasured possession.” ~Deuteronomy 7:6

And in that moment I know with all my heart that Yahweh cares about our brokenness. He cares about all our hurts. It truly matters to Him when we are shattered. He came down beside us so that we would know that fully.

YOU, His child, are not just glass to Him. You aren’t Replaceable.

No, you are His.

You are the one He loves.

You are the one He treasures.

“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” ~Matthew 6:21

So.. where is God's treasure? There with you...

Where is His heart? With you also...

Right now. Right there. In the middle of your brokenness.

Only Yahweh can put you back together...

And you can know He loves you enough to do it.

Forever His,

A word from your King…

My child,

I Am the Master Potter, and you are the clay. I know you desire is to be shaped by Me—to be used by Me. That is what I created You for – to be a vessel of honor. I want to fill you up with My love, My hope, My blessing, and pour you out to quench a thirsty world. Even on those days when you feel broken and empty, I can still use you -- as long as you are firmly in My grasp. I chose you because you have seen your own brokenness and have given every shattered piece to Me. No one can become a vessel of honor by sitting tall and pretty – filled to the brim with pride and self-confidence. Don’t be afraid to empty yourself of what you think is valuable and let Me fill you up with what is invaluable. Let Me hold you. Let Me fill you. Let Me pour out My blessings through you, and you will experience overflowing joy as My vessel of honor.

Love,

Your King and Creator

“If anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.” ~2 Timothy 2:21
